Policies, procedures and student information for people training with Energy Efficiency Skills Institute.
The EESI Student Handbook explains your rights and responsibilities as a student, how training and assessment is delivered, what support is available, and how to raise concerns.
A current copy of the handbook is provided at enrolment and is available on request. EESI operates in line with the Standards for Registered Training Organisations and is committed to quality training and assessment.
See the Student Handbook page (draft), Enrolment information (draft) or the full policies index.
Nationally recognised training is delivered in line with the training package requirements for each unit of competency. Assessment is competency-based and may include practical demonstration, written or oral questioning, workplace tasks and third-party reports where appropriate.
Learners are given the opportunity to be assessed as competent, receive constructive feedback and, where required, undertake reassessment.
Learners who are assessed as competent in one or more nationally recognised units of competency will be issued a Statement of Attainment listing those units, issued by Energy Efficiency Skills Institute (RTO 46127).
Certification is issued within 30 calendar days of the learner being assessed as competent, provided all fees have been paid and a valid USI has been supplied.
Non-accredited industry training may be recognised by a certificate of participation or attendance, which is not a nationally recognised qualification or Statement of Attainment.
Course fees are disclosed prior to enrolment. Fees cover training delivery, assessment, learner support, resources and certification issuance where applicable.
Refunds are considered in line with EESI's Fees, Charges & Refunds Policy, including refunds where EESI cancels or reschedules a course, and partial refunds where a learner withdraws within the specified timeframes.
EESI does not collect more than $1,500 in prepaid fees per learner at any one time.
EESI is committed to the fair, transparent and timely handling of complaints and appeals. Learners may lodge a complaint about any aspect of their training and assessment experience, or appeal an assessment decision.
Complaints and appeals are acknowledged in writing and progress is communicated to the learner. After the internal process is complete, learners may escalate the matter to an appropriate external body, including state consumer protection or ombudsman pathways as applicable. Separately, ASQA regulates RTOs and can receive complaints about compliance with the Standards only where that falls within its remit; ASQA does not resolve individual student disputes and is not an advocate for either party. It does not guarantee personal outcomes.
See the Complaints & Appeals page (draft), or contact EESI to request the Complaints and Appeals Policy and lodgement form.
RPL is an assessment process that recognises the skills and knowledge you already have — from work experience, life experience or previous training — against the requirements of a nationally recognised unit of competency.
RPL is not currently offered. If RPL becomes available, the price and evidence requirements will be published and confirmed in writing before you incur any charges.
Credit transfer recognises nationally recognised units of competency you have already been assessed as competent in with another RTO. Provide a verified transcript, Statement of Attainment or USI transcript and EESI will assess eligibility. Any charges (if any) will be advised in writing before you incur them.
EESI provides reasonable support to help learners complete their training successfully — including guidance on training and assessment, language, literacy and numeracy considerations, reasonable adjustment where appropriate, and referral to external support services where relevant.
All students undertaking nationally recognised training in Australia require a Unique Student Identifier (USI). Your USI provides a lifelong record of your nationally recognised training.
You can create or find your USI at usi.gov.au. EESI cannot issue a Statement of Attainment without a valid USI.
EESI collects personal information to enrol you in training, deliver and assess your course, meet regulatory reporting obligations (including AVETMISS reporting) and communicate with you about your training.
Personal information is handled in line with the Australian Privacy Principles under the Privacy Act 1988 (Cth). Read the full Privacy Policy.
Enrolment in an EESI course is subject to our Terms of Enrolment, which cover learner obligations, course participation, attendance, assessment, unique student identifier, code of conduct, and cancellation.
A copy of the current Terms of Enrolment is provided at enrolment. See enrolment information (draft) and the student handbook (draft).
Training recognition: Energy Efficiency Skills Institute is a Registered Training Organisation (RTO 46127). Nationally recognised training is delivered only where a course is listed as accredited or includes nationally recognised units of competency. Some short courses may be non-accredited industry training.
